In a surprising turn of events, Omid Scobie’s publishing venture, Meo Limited, has been forced to shut down due to non-compliance with Company House regulations.
This closure follows a mandatory strike-off notice issued in December 2024, marking a significant setback for the journalist known for his close ties to Meghan Markle.
Founded in 2016, Meo Limited was solely directed by Scobie throughout its existence.
However, recent reports indicate that the company has now been officially dissolved.
With its bank account frozen and assets transferred to the crown, the future of Scobie’s business looks bleak.
The closure comes after multiple warnings, with December’s notice being the fourth issued against Meo.
Richard Eden from the Daily Mail highlighted that Scobie narrowly avoided a similar fate back in April 2022.
In a last-ditch effort, he submitted three sets of annual accounts on the same day, which temporarily kept the business afloat.
However, this time, the situation proved insurmountable.
The financial state of Meo Limited was far from rosy.
When the company faced its latest filing challenges, it reportedly had just £359 in its bank account.
This lack of funds likely contributed to the inability to meet regulatory demands, leading to the company’s dissolution.
According to the latest filing history available on Company House, the official notice of dissolution was recorded on February 18, 2025.
A statement indicated that further documentation regarding the closure would be available soon, but for now, Scobie’s business endeavors seem to have come to an abrupt halt.
Scobie, often dubbed Meghan’s mouthpiece, gained considerable attention for co-authoring the 2020 book “Finding Freedom,” which explored the lives of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
His most recent work, “Endgame,” released in August 2023, delves into the complexities surrounding the royal family and their media interactions.
In interviews prior to the release of “Endgame,” Scobie claimed he did not maintain a personal friendship with Meghan or conduct interviews with her or Harry for the book.
Instead, he noted having mutual friends with Meghan, which he suggested helped him gather insights and information for his writing.
